As we kick off a fresh start in 2021, we are honored to add a great new member to the Mankato Packaging team: Pete Grill. Pete joined us in late December 2020 as our new Production Manager, and he is quickly becoming a highly valued member of our team. We recently sat down with Pete to get to know him a little better, and we are happy to share more about him with you!

Tell us a little about your work history and experience?

I’ve been in packaging for nearly 30 years. I began in corrugated in an entry-level position and worked my way through machine operations to eventual management opportunities.

What was it that drew you to the Mankato Packaging Team?

I was intrigued by what I read online, but meeting the team and visiting the facility piqued my interest.

What makes you most excited about working with the MP team and helping them grow?

The dedication of the leadership team I met, private ownership, years in the business, and focus on the customer are what excite me most.

What is the most important thing you have learned about leading a team?

Every team member contributes to the ultimate goal. My job is to help them understand and flourish in their individual contribution.

You moved here from out of state – What are you most excited to experience in Minnesota?labels, custom labels, professional label printing, beer labels, beer can labels, seasonal packaging, paperboard packaging, ecofriendly packaging, sustainable, recycleable, packaging supplier, local packaging, custom packaging, package for beer, automotive parts packaging, food packaging, mankato, minnesota, package prototype, packaging for outdoor products, hunting packaging, military packaging

I’m a fisherman. The access to so many different bodies of water and species of fish is exciting. My wife enjoys travel and taking photos. Our research would indicate there are many scenic places to visit.

What is your favorite pastime/hobby?

Fishing is at the top of my list. Spending time with my wife traveling and exploring are close seconds.

What is your favorite brand packaging and why?

I am attracted to complex packaging using the least material with attractive graphics. Apple products come to mind. They are expensive but use minimal graphics, fantastic packaging, and you know exactly what’s inside.

We look forward to hearing all of Pete’s Minnesota fishing stories, and we hope you will join us in giving him a warm welcome to Minnesota and Mankato Packaging!
