Each of our paperboard cartons is custom created for your product needs.  After meeting with our packaging experts, Mankato Packaging engineers will work with you to determine the size, shape and material of your box. With functionality and aesthetics in mind, engineers will create a digital spec of your box. Upon approval, engineers will create a three-dimensional prototype of your carton. The design will be tested for feasibility and any necessary adjustments will be made. Next, your carton is on to production. Using offset printing, graphics and text will be printed on to your packaging. Based on your box’s specific requirements, processes like coating would happen at this stage. During the die-cutting process, individual cartons will be cut out of the original sheet.In the final stage of the manufacturing process, flat, die cut pieces will be fed for folding and gluing. Now your cartons are on their way to you, ready for your product!

How many colors can my artwork include?

We print anywhere from one color to full color jobs.

Can you design my art?

We can work closely with your design team to bring your vision to life or work with a third party designer to provide you with turnkey artwork solutions! Our prepress and packaging design team can make small adjustments to existing artwork as well.

Do you have plain boxes stocked for purchase?

All our designs are completely customized to fit your needs. Our team is excited for the opportunity to assist you!

What are your maximum and minimum orders?

In an effort to maximize efficiencies, normally we quote a minimum quantity of 1,000. If you need a smaller quantity, we can discuss sample options. As for maximum orders, there’s not an exact number established.

What are your cartons made out of?

Paperboard – also referred to as chipboard – is the raw material used in paperboard carton production. 

What form of printing do you do?

This is the most common form of printing paperboard. In this method the paperboard sheets are sheet-fed offset. Offset is referred to as an “indirect” printing method. The ink is not transferred to the paperboard sheet from the printing plate. The printing cylinder sets off the printing ink onto a rubber-covered blanket cylinder, which transfers the ink/printing image to the paperboard sheet.
